Draft Action Plan and Community Input

Sarasota County will receive $210 million in Community Development Block Grant-Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) funds to support long-term recovery efforts from the 2024 Storms Debby, Helene and Milton. Funds can be used for restoration of infrastructure and housing, economic revitalization and mitigation with a focus on assisting low- to moderate-income households.

Outreach and Public Input

Jan. 27 through Feb. 16, 2025: Unmet Needs Assessment and Public Input

Community members were invited to participate in an unmet needs survey to provide input and ideas for the county’s draft action plan. The survey helped guide the use of funds for recovery efforts following 2024 storms Debby, Helene and Milton. The survey was open from Jan. 27 through Feb. 16, 2025 and is now closed. 

Four public input meetings were also held at libraries throughout the county.

​March 3 through April 3, 2025: Draft Action Plan Public Comment Period

The draft action plan was published for a 30-day public comment period from March 3 to April 3, 2025.

Feedback was accepted through online comment form, mail and email. In addition, two public hearings were held to present the draft action plan, answer questions and hear public comments. 

Public hearings: 

  • Tuesday, March 4 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at R.L. Anderson Administration Center (South)

  • Friday, March 14 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Sarasota County Administration Center (North)

560 comments were received on the draft action plan.
